Who are you?
I’m Henry Nichols.
What do you do?
I’m a student at Tufts. I’ve been playing bass since seventh grade and I’ve played for Shark Saddle since the beginning of this year.
What music have you been listening to recently?
Well I listen to stuff like Snarky Puppy. They’re probably the band’s biggest influence. We try and incorporate some of their sound into our own sound. Other than that I was in a band at home that was kind of more folky, so I’ve been listening to Sun Kil Moon recently. And then I kind of listen to abstract hip-hop stuff sometimes, like Bonobo and Odyssey. He’s more mainstream, but him sometimes.
Where do you see yourself in a year?
I see myself continuing to play in Shark Saddle, and over the summer my band at home had a few shows set up where the venue knew the other players, the guitarist and the drummer. So they wanted to have us, but we ended too quickly. So we’re planning to get together over the summer and play some gigs in Vermont, which I’m really excited about. And hopefully Shark Saddle can start to branch out into Boston a little bit too.
French fries or skinny thighs?
I eat a lot of shitty food, but I don’t know why I’m skinny. People have told me I should be fat. Sometimes I wish I could gain a little weight. But French fries all the way I guess.
