Muse is Coming to TD Garden on January 25
This January, legendary English rock band Muse will be coming to perform at the TD Garden in Boston. The tour is the latest leg to support their 2015 record Drones, the band’s first No. 1 album on the Billboard 200 Chart with 84,000 album units sold within the first week of its release. It topped the charts in the United Kingdom for two weeks in June while simultaneously topping charts in the United States, and reached No.1 in over 23 countries.

The band was formed by three friends – guitarist and vocalist Matthew Bellamy, bassist Chris Wolstenholme, and drummer Dominic Howard – in 1994 at the age of 13. Originally called Gothic Plague, the band eventually settled on the name Muse and signed a deal with Maverick Records after a trip to New York’s CMJ festival.
From the start of their career they were able to attract a series of listeners from around the world, synthesizing European rhythms with classic rock and roll in order to produce their own unique sound. Muse’s 2002 album Black Holes & Revelations brought them to even greater heights, topping the UK album chart within its first week (marking their second consecutive number one album at home) and America’s Top Ten. The album release was followed up by a dynamic world tour that won them multiple awards for Best Live Show. Muse’s success continued on into 2009 with the release of The Resistance in September and the launch of another world tour while supporting U2. Since then their music has been featured in multiple movie soundtracks including the famed Twilight saga, and the band was even given the pleasure of writing the official theme for the 2012 Summer Olympics (“Survival”). This tour will be no exception to the previous successful tours that the band has put on in the upcoming years. Known for pushing boundaries in their stage production, the tour will provide fans with a 360-degree audio and visual sensory experience, filled with literal drones and videos that provide fans with a better sense behind the meaning and thinking that went into the development of each song. The Vancouver Observer’s Craig Fleisch states, “For a band whose fame has made them giants in the music world, they have not lost sight of who they are as artists. It was abundantly clear they really love what they do and that they will continue to do it for their fans.” Muse’s clever mingling of progressive rock, electronica, and Radiohead-influenced, paired with their passionate stage presence, continues to draw critical acclaim. They provide an emotional, passionate sound that evokes a wild energy amongst fans and leaves them longing for more. The band will be joined onstage by fellow rockers X Ambassadors, who I had the pleasure of seeing in October and will provide an excellent build-up to the m-m-m-m-m-madness that will eventually take over as the night goes on.
